Yoga Teacher Training Graduates at Samahita Retreat

The Yoga Teacher Training Apprentice Program is available exclusively to Centered Yoga 200-hour Education in Yoga Foundation Course Graduates. If you aspire to teach yoga and want to further your education and get more hands-on experience, you may be eligible for one of the few spots on this program, following your foundation course.

Samahita, with its full teaching program and class offering, as well as a cadre of senior teachers, is uniquely positioned to offer such a program to Centered Yoga graduates.

How it Works

Eligible applicants for The Yoga Teacher Apprentice Program will stay one month following the 200-hour course on-site at Samhita Retreat and apprentice-teach under the current group of qualified and senior teachers at Samahita, who themselves are past graduates of Centered Yoga at the Advanced Training level.

There is not a formal curriculum for an apprenticeship. Rather it is guided by your ability and enquiring interest in and around what you are doing and learning. The apprenticeship will involve shadow teaching, adjusting practice, and actual class teaching. All this is done in the presence of one of the qualified teachers.

The Process

Shadow teaching : backup support and assist a teacher leading their own class.

Adjusting practice : in both guided Engaged Dynamic Asana and Restorative Yoga classes you will directly adjust students with the qualified teacher’s supervision. For more in depth Adjusting we would recommend joining one of our advanced Anatomy courses which focus more specifically on the art of adjusting.

Actual class teaching : towards the end of the program, based on competency level, you will teach actual guided Engaged Dynamic Asana and Restorative Yoga classes with one of our qualified teachers present and supporting the room.

Eligibility & Availability

Currently, we limit the number of apprentices from a course to 3. We will inform selected applicants by week 3 of the 200-hour training.

We can be flexible with the exact start date. Typical is to continue into the month directly after the 200-hour program but we can make exceptions for a week gap or follow a later one-month program.

Within your application for the Centered Yoga 200-hour Education in Yoga Foundation Course, you can note your direct interest in the program. From here we will assess your eligibility during the training period.

Fee

We subsidize your stay at Samahita Retreat for the month of the Apprentice Program. However, student fees of US$2,750 are required to support the costs of your stay for the month. Included in these fees are your guest rooms (shared), use of facilities, food, and training support given during the Yoga Teacher Apprentice Program.

Application Process

Complete the application form for the standard Centered Yoga 200-hour Education in Yoga Foundation Course. Its questions are designed to help you think more about doing a training and studying here. We review them within 48 hours and inform you of a space or not.

On the form, you can note your interest to be considered for The Yoga Teacher Apprentice Program. Eligibility for the Apprentice Program and notification of a spot will be confirmed by week 3 of the initial 200-hour training course.
