Longevity and Consistency

Centered Yoga began cultivating students into teachers in 1999, first based in New York City, and since 2002 from its current home at Samahita Retreat on the beautiful tropical island of Koh Samui in Thailand.

It has earned a strong reputation as a pioneer and leader in the field of yogic education and training due to

  • its comprehensive and thorough teaching
  • the high master level experience of the teachers
  • the unique completeness of the curriculum
  • the outstanding training facilities and environment.

We offer both one-month residential 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training programs, preceded by pre-course assignments and practice preparation, as well as numerous 50 and 100 hour modules for the later levels of teaching under our 300-hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training program.

The Spiritual with the Scientific

training school scientificCentered Yoga brings a unique combination of the spiritual with the scientific, the traditional with the modern. We have been immersed in the classic traditional teachings from India and able to combine this with the cutting edge modern scientific thought in the field of yoga and meditation today.

It has taken years of practice and study by Paul and the course leaders for it to reach such a standard. Paul has spent years in traditional practice, much of it in India with further experiences in Thailand and Tibet, in addition to scientific research work at the PhD at one of the leading universities in the U.S. It has required a deep focus and questioning in terms of study and understanding through both living the tradition in practice and academic understanding.

Excellent program, it is comprehensive and a holistic approach of the yoga study. The quality of the curriculum, teachers, staff, and facilities are just perfect for yogis who registered this program for self development or embarking the teaching journey.

Dorothy

Very complete training with excellent teachers. All of the teachers had their own personality and strengths with a great depth of knowledge. Some of the best teaching I have ever experienced. The entire program has a flow and all the classes melt together. There is a reason for everything that is taught and by the end you can see the thread and how things were gently introduced in many ways to be entirely absorbed by the end. You can sense that there is a lot of attention to detail and a lot of thought put into the whole course. I definitely recommend this course to anyone who is looking for an excellent, complete, and thorough foundation.

Victoria

Without doubt one of the best experiences of my life. Centered Yoga truly lives up to it’s name, for the first time in a very long time I can truly say I feel centered. The TT course was physically and mentally challenging, at times emotional draining but out weighing these aspects was its uplifting nature, its insightful and inspiring practice, it’s eye opening ability and it’s informative abundance.

More than Asana

Centered Yoga reaches much further than asana and in so doing can help your physical asana practice to go much further through optimal use in training of the body and breath along with increased understanding of the purpose behind each practice and yoga overall while being educated on anatomy, physiology, psychology and philosophy behind yoga and its practices.

Non-dogmatic

Our goal is to share clear insights into yoga along with a correct understanding of practice in terms of how and why. This is revolutionary to practice, moving away from any dogmatic “must do” approaches to freedom in practice with personal expression in what to practice, built on the keys and principles of asana and not on the rigid form.

In recent years a plethora of programs have popped up all over the world. You, as the interested student looking to train, are now presented with a disarray of choices. We are not here to “sell” you on our program, nor convincing. We continue to pour as much personal energy into these programs as ever. One difference though, over the years Paul and teachers have grown, even more, sharing a greater level of experience. We stand by a high quality, personal program, in residence, at the fairest of rates

Practicing & Teaching

Whether you call it yoga, meditation or spiritual practice, or working on yourself, self-development, biohacking, or more, our approach covers several practices that involve the body, breath and mind.

We teach group classes, teacher assisted self-practice and one-on-one private sessions. Paul has spent over 20 years refining the practice of asana (body), pranayama (breath), meditative techniques (mind), mantra (sound), chanting and mindful compassion (heart) as well as body optimizing practices (core strength and cardio) that also enhance the mind. Combined the effect is to help one live a more empowered life, full of energy, kind to others, and clear in mind.

These are some of the classes you can expect to find on Centered Yoga Trainings:

  • Dynamic Core Vinyasa (different sequences)
  • Dynamic Linear Ashtanga Vinyasa
  • Restorative Asana (different sequences)
  • Basic Breathwork
  • Pranayama (more involved yoga breath techniques)
  • Contemplation of gratitude, forgiveness and guidance
  • Meditation techniques (several approaches)
