About This Retreat

This retreat offers the opportunity to practice yoga in-depth with an experienced and inspirational teacher who will share his passion for yoga and personal growth. The focus of the program is to integrate oneself as a person but also to delve deeply into all aspects of a fully rounded yoga practice. This means we’ll be following well structured sessions created to educate and provide experience in all aspects of practice from meditation, pranayama and asana to exploring our deeper sense of self and identity.


Beginning with quiet seated meditation and chanting to set our intentions for the day and develop deeper awareness. Followed by breathing and traditional pranayama practices designed to release tension and improve subtle energy awareness. Completing the morning with an energetic vinyasa yoga session focused on anatomically sound movement and alignment or, towards the end of the week, an assisted self practice session to work with our individual needs. This would also be an opportunity to work on the ashtanga vinyasa sequences.


These sessions will begin with a presentation or discussion to encourage deeper understanding of our yoga practices and it’s purpose within our modern lives. We’ll cover ideas relating to our sense of self or identity and the many challenges we face finding balance in our life. Following this with either a themed workshop-style educational yoga session, such as backbending and inversions, or restorative / relaxing asana.

Complementary Excursions

This retreat includes the regular complimentary excursions and other facilities offered at Samahita such as a boat trip with snorkelling, guided local walks, trips to the night market and herbal steam room. Plus any other add ons such as Detox and Total Self Care programs.

Daniel Stringer

Daniel began practicing Yoga in his home town Bristol, U.K. in 2003. He travelled to Mysore, India in 2006 to study the Ashtanga Vinyasa system directly from the Jois family. From Mysore he was led to Samahita in Koh Samui where he found his primary teacher Paul Dallaghan, an inspiring man with whom Daniel felt a deeper connection. Through these journeys, he has discovered how a dedicated and sincere yoga practice can be the single most transformative experience in anyone’s life. Daniel spent 10 years teaching in the vibrant yoga scene of Hong Kong at numerous studios including Pure Yoga and remains connected to the community. This was also a time of cross-discipline learning and experimentation with yoga practice and teaching.

Daniel teaches an in-depth vinyasa yoga that includes strong and well aligned form with intelligent and practical sequencing. This allows students to express their full potential safely but also takes into account individual differences. He takes a long-term interest in his students, helping to support inner and outer growth and development.

Daniel is a resident teacher at Samahita and continues his studies with Paul Dallaghan, O. P. Tiwari, Richard Freeman & Mary Taylor and Arielle Nash. He is registered with Yoga Alliance at the ERYT 500 Level and as a Continuing Education Provider.

Daily Schedule

The program begins at 5pm on the first day of the retreat with a group welcome and departure is at 12pm on the last day. The schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the teacher.

7.00 am – 8.00 am Meditation / Pranayama
8.00 am – 10.00 am Led Asana or Assisted Self Practice
10.00 am – 1.00 pm Brunch Buffet
3.30 pm – 4.15 pm Discussion / Presentation
4.15 pm – 6.00 pm Technique and Practice Workshop
6:00 pm – 8.00 pm Dinner Buffet
7.30 pm Meditation or quiet time

Wednesday afternoon is free – guests can enjoy a complimentary boat and snorkelling trip, weather permitting. Based on request and availability, you are welcome to arrive early or extend your stay, our Residential and Wellness Programs.

Need to bring a friend, partner or family member?

Subject to availability, we have Friends & Family rates for any registered Samahita Retreat guest’s partner, family member or friend, who is not interested in participating in any of the programs but will stay in a room and board capacity. Shared accommodation, food, and the facilities are open to them. If they prefer to engage in the selection of yoga, breath, meditation, and fitness classes every day then a separate booking under YogaCoreCycle is advised.
