About This Retreat
This is a 9 day holistic yoga and fitness retreat designed to help you develop a deeper understanding of your core, in terms of fitness, yoga, and also who you are as an individual.
Each day, we will take time to connect to our breath, our bodies, and our core. All the yoga and fitness classes incorporate exercises that will show you how to connect to and access the muscles you need to support you while working out, doing yoga and just going about your daily life.

Mornings with Summer:
We will practice the yogic kriyas (cleansing practices) and pranayama, deepening our knowledge and understanding of the effects of these practices on a physiological level. These seated practices require proper engagement of the pelvic floor and lower abdomen to have a good effect on the nervous system.
We will then move into the asana practice, utilizing the body as a vehicle to better understand ourselves.
Everyone will learn an asana sequence that is suitable and manageable for their specific body type and time constraints. Both the pranayama and asana classes will be guided in the beginning and then move towards a manageable, realistic independent self-practice.
Afternoons with Dalila:
Our main focus will be to move with intention: to connect to our center and feel the energy flowing smoothly throughout the whole body. The beginning of our class will be dedicated to mobility in order to create heat in the body, prepare the joints for the workout and prevent injury. This is where the mind-body connection comes into play. We will then learn how to engage our deep core muscles to help stabilize the joints, fire specific muscles and activate the central nervous system which in turn will enable us to maximize our neuromuscular efficiency, building strength and power for the training session.
After the fitness class, we will gently cool down the body with a restorative yoga sequence, supported by props that will allow us to completely relax and rest. Each pose will be held for 5 minutes or more. Restorative poses include light twists, seated forward folds, and gentle backbends.

During the retreat, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy alone time and group bonding, all on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, in Thailand.

Being a total beginner in a retreat with more experienced yogis, it was hard for me to keep up with the class sometimes. Summer was very kind and attentive, gave me a lot of encouragement to overcome the challenges and came up with modifications whenever something turned out to be too much for me. She managed to create a very positive learning environment, and it was next to impossible not to share in her joy and love of yoga. I’m very grateful that Summer was my teacher, she truly made my first real yoga experience a positive one.
I have attended the retreat of Summer Dien at Samahita Retreat. I have appreciated a lot the program, the approach and the style. The program was a complete one, with contemplation, kriya, pranayama, asanas and meditation. Summer’s approach is the best I have experienced so far with a yoga teacher. Summer explains all practices, what they are useful for and what the benefits are for the mind, spirit and body. Then, she is calm and inspiring calmness. She can manage groups with very different levels of practice, following the needs of everybody and providing corrections and explanations to all. She listens the concerns of everybody and supports and encourages all. I would like to have her as a teacher in Brussels!

Just finished this one week retreat “Yoga and Meditation Magic” with Summer Dien at Samahita Retreat in Koh Samui, Thailand. For me it was not just a great experience with a lovely group of people in a nice surrounding but also a great way to learn more about Pranayama, Meditation and Asanas. Thanks to Summer, our excellent teacher, for explaining even complex exercises in an easy and understandable way, which helped me a lot during Meditation and Pranayama. Due to her great adjustments during asana practice I was able to improve and found a new approach for my practice.
So, if you have the opportunity to take part in one of Summer’s retreats, do not hesitate, it’s definitely worth it.
