The Art of Connecting to Your Power Center: A Yoga and Fitness Retreat

With Summer Dien & Manu Molina de la Torre

February 16 – 25, 2019

About This Retreat

This is a 9 day holistic yoga and fitness retreat designed to help you develop a deeper understanding of your core, in terms of fitness, yoga, and also who you are as an individual.

Each day, we will take time to connect to our breath, our bodies, and our core. All the yoga and fitness classes incorporate exercises that will show you how to connect to and access the muscles you need to support you while working out, doing yoga and just going about your daily life.

  • Strengthen your body from the inside out.
  • Connect to your core.
  • Connect with others.
  • Feel yourself apart of a supportive community.

Mornings:

We will practice the yogic kriyas (cleansing practices) and pranayama, deepening our knowledge and understanding of the effects of these practices on a physiological level. These seated practices require proper engagement of the pelvic floor and lower abdomen to have a good effect on the nervous system.

We will then move into the asana practice, utilizing the body as a vehicle to better understand ourselves.

Everyone will learn an asana sequence that is suitable and manageable for their specific body type and time constraints. Both the pranayama and asana classes will be guided in the beginning and then move towards a manageable, realistic independent self-practice.

Afternoons:

Afternoons will combine mobility, functional training, cardio, resistance training, coordination exercises, calisthenics, Thai massage stretching and restorative yoga. During our sessions we will also play with creativity, exploring movement in experimental ways.

The focus and purpose of each class will vary; however, the common denominator of the afternoon classes will be education and FUN! We will work strengthening the whole body from the core out, increasing the levels of strength, endurance, flexibility, agility and coordination.

Interval training with the indoor bicycles will be another key ingredient in the afternoons as well as covering the basics and progressions with TRX, Kettlebells and Bosu. Each afternoon will finish with some partner stretching (Thai style) and/or some yogic restorative practice.

Testimonials for Summer

Being a total beginner in a retreat with more experienced yogis, it was hard for me to keep up with the class sometimes. Summer was very kind and attentive, gave me a lot of encouragement to overcome the challenges and came up with modifications whenever something turned out to be too much for me. She managed to create a very positive learning environment, and it was next to impossible not to share in her joy and love of yoga. I’m very grateful that Summer was my teacher, she truly made my first real yoga experience a positive one.

I have attended the retreat of Summer Dien at Samahita Retreat. I have appreciated a lot the program, the approach and the style. The program was a complete one, with contemplation, kriya, pranayama, asanas and meditation. Summer’s approach is the best I have experienced so far with a yoga teacher. Summer explains all practices, what they are useful for and what the benefits are for the mind, spirit and body. Then, she is calm and inspiring calmness. She can manage groups with very different levels of practice, following the needs of everybody and providing corrections and explanations to all. She listens the concerns of everybody and supports and en courages all. I would like to have her as a teacher in Brussels!

I am very grateful for being part of your Yoga retreat at Samahita. Total immersion into yoga, pranayama and meditation has brought a lot of peace and light to my soul. Not only I enjoyed every second practicing with you, I came back home absolutely inspired to integrate all I’ve learnt into my daily practice. Thank you for your guidance, genuine support, deep practice, you wisdom which you generously shared with us. And most of all – for miraculous vibes you radiate to the world and people around you.

Much love,

Olga (Russia)

Just finished this one week retreat “Yoga and Meditation Magic” with Summer Dien at Samahita Retreat in Koh Samui, Thailand. For me it was not just a great experience with a lovely group of people in a nice surrounding but also a great way to learn more about Pranayama, Meditation and Asanas. Thanks to Summer, our excellent teacher, for explaining even complex exercises in an easy and understandable way, which helped me a lot during Meditation and Pranayama. Due to her great adjustments during asana practice I was able to improve and found a new approach for my practice.

So, if you have the opportunity to take part in one of Summer’s retreats, do not hesitate, it’s definitely worth it.
