The Art of Connecting to Your Power Center: A Yoga and Fitness Retreat

About This Retreat

This is a 9 day holistic yoga and fitness retreat designed to help you develop a deeper understanding of your core, in terms of fitness, yoga, and also who you are as an individual.

Each day, we will take time to connect to our breath, our bodies, and our core. All the yoga and fitness classes incorporate exercises that will show you how to connect to and access the muscles you need to support you while working out, doing yoga and just going about your daily life.

Mornings with Summer:

We will practice the yogic kriyas (cleansing practices) and pranayama, deepening our knowledge and understanding of the effects of these practices on a physiological level. These seated practices require proper engagement of the pelvic floor and lower abdomen to have a good effect on the nervous system.

We will then move into the asana practice, utilizing the body as a vehicle to better understand ourselves.

Everyone will learn an asana sequence that is suitable and manageable for their specific body type and time constraints. Both the pranayama and asana classes will be guided in the beginning and then move towards a manageable, realistic independent self-practice.

Afternoons with Dalila:

Our training sessions will incorporate functional and dynamic exercises designed to increase strength, core stability, balance, coordination, endurance and power. By learning how to engage our deep core muscles and link movement to breath, we will set the foundation for a strong and functional body.

We will begin each class with mobility drills and core activation exercises that will enable us to move efficiently during our high-intensity circuit training. Using our own bodyweight and a variety of fitness equipment, we will practice important functional movement patterns such as rotational movements, hinging, and squatting and strengthen our core in a challenging and playful way. After the fitness class, we will have gentle restorative yoga session to cool down, stretch and deeply relax the body.

During the retreat, there will be plenty of opportunities to enjoy alone time and group bonding, all on the beautiful island of Koh Samui, in Thailand.

As a former teacher at Samahita Retreat, Summer is overjoyed with the opportunity to share yoga with others at this world renown holistic health and wellness mecca.

Summer Dien

Summer Dien is an international yoga teacher, specializing in pranayama and ashtanga. Summer has had a dedicated and sincere sadhana since 2010 and been teaching since 2011. Summer completed her foundational training in 2013 with Paul Dallaghan at Centered Yoga. She worked at Samahita Retreat in Koh Samui, Thailand for two years, where she taught pranayama, mysore/ashtanga, restorative, and guided meditation. Summer continues to study extensively with her teachers Sri OP Tiwariji and Paul Dallaghan in the areas of pranayama and asana, and has over 1100 hours of advanced yoga education. She is trained in the classical pranayama practices of the Khaivalyadham lineage and in the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa system. Summer has a liberal, non-dogmatic approach and believes in using the body in the most efficient and intelligent way possible. While non-traditional in some ways, she adheres to the general principles of the Ashtanga Vinyasa method. She advocates modifying the poses to suit the student’s current needs and abilities. Summer in gifted in working with both advanced and new practitioners alike.

Summer is committed to the path of yoga and dedicates her life fully to supporting and uplifting others by passing on the ancient yogic practices of asana and pranayama.

Within the past couple years, she has taught classes, given workshops and retreats in Bali, Singapore, Maldives, Thailand, Taiwan, Bangladesh, Switzerland, Germany, UK, Italy, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Belgium, Morocco, and Costa Rica.

Summer is very excited to co-teach this retreat and combine yoga and fitness with Dalila at Samahita Retreat, her yoga home.

For me it was not just a great experience with a lovely group of people in a nice surrounding but also a great way to learn more about Pranayama, Meditation and Asanas. Thanks to Summer, our excellent teacher, for explaining even complex exercises in an easy and understandable way, which helped me a lot during Meditation and Pranayama. Dalila El Merini

Dalila is an international personal trainer certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and has completed her 300h yoga teacher training at the Yoga Vidya Center in Germany. She has spent the past few years working across Brazil, Morocco and Germany, where she has had the opportunity to train people of all ages and backgrounds, speaking French, German, Italian, Portuguese and English.

Dalila’s warmth and uplifting energy enables her to create a positive environment that pushes her students to break mental barriers through movement. She advocates a systematic and integrated approach to physical training, with an emphasis on mobility, core stability and strength for optimal performance in sports and everyday life. While making her workouts challenging and fun, Dalila ensures that the exercises are personalised to suit each students’ needs and abilities. Her purpose is to encourage them to combine movement with proper breathing and mindfulness to achieve a deeper connection with their bodies.

Daily Schedule

The program begins at 5 pm on the first day of the retreat with a group welcome and departure is at 12 pm on the last day. The schedule is subject to change at the discretion of the teachers.

Wednesday afternoons are free and guests can enjoy a complimentary boat and snorkeling trip from around 1-4pm, weather permitting.
