About The Retreat
On planet Earth today there are over 7 billion people, speaking nearly 6,500 languages. With the advent of advanced technology and the internet, we can somehow manage to connect with people thousands of miles away. (Just like we are doing right now!)…and despite it all, the majority of us experience isolation and loneliness in our daily lives.
What about the Internet, though? What about connecting to yourself and what’s inside? More than ever before, we need a real energetic connection to each other and to Mother Nature.
How do we overcome the barriers that divide us and learn to empathize with our fellow brothers and sisters? How do we find that common thread? How can we feel a sense of oneness and union, connection?
Sometimes, all it takes to reconnect to oneself is closing the eyes and observing the sounds around us, taking in the sensations the body feels. The connection to the breath can bring us back to ourselves and remind us that we are all human beings.
No matter the color of our skin or our eyes, no matter our income, family background, or occupation, underneath it all, we are all the same. We all experience the same emotions of love, joy, anger, sadness, grief, and jealousy.
When we have a shared experience, we can relate to each other and create a powerful bond.
The Art of Connecting retreat in January brings people together from all over the world, from all walks of life, to spend seven or fourteen days breathing, moving, laughing and living together as one.

Of connecting to ourselves,
our physical form,
to each other,
And ultimately connecting to the inner wisdom that lives within us.
Through the modalities of kriyas, pranayama, guided meditation, asana and Wholistic Movement we will learn how to connect in authentic and meaningful ways, to our bodies and each other.
Through finding comfort in discomfort, through trusting in and surrendering to the unknown, through breathing and observing (rather than withholding the breath and reacting to emotions), we will discover new layers to ourselves and our new found friends.

Come and learn how to (re)connect and leave with a toolbox full of yogic exercises that you can implement in your daily life.
What are you waiting for?
Morning classes begin with a guided contemplation on gratitude, forgiveness, and guidance.
We will practice the yogic kriyas (cleansing practices) and pranayama, deepening our knowledge and understanding of the effects of these practices on a physiological level and experiencing the effects for ourselves on a personal level.
Each day will also focus on core strengthening exercises, building that strong connection to our power center. We will also cover one key asana pose per day, going in depth on alignment and modifications for different body types.
The asana practice will be unique to each participant. Everyone will learn an asana sequence that is suitable and manageable for their specific body type and time constraints. There will be two asana classes to choose from: a dynamic ashtanga Mysore style and a gentler vinyasa flow style class.
Both the pranayama and asana classes will be guided in the beginning and then move towards a manageable, realistic independent self-practice.
After the retreat, everyone will have a set of yogic practices available to them at any time. Students can begin to integrate these practices into their daily lives and feel immediate effects.
In the afternoon classes, we will explore Wholistic Movement. This is a method, created by Manu, which blends movement, wellbeing and yoga seamlessly into a variety of mind, body and breathing practices that create a more wholistic approach. Wholistic Movement is inspired by a new paradigm shift in the wellness world. This new paradigm is born out of a desire to better understand movement, wellbeing and spirituality.
The afternoons integrate the morning’s practices, from a fitness and movement standpoint, as well as including breath-work and yoga. It is designed in a cohesive and progressive manner, linking movement (in different forms), fitness (with multiple modalities) and yoga (exploring various limbs and approaches).
We understand that this retreat’s program can be physically demanding and for this reason we will be giving plenty of options, variations and modifications during our classes.
